Deluxe Pest Control and the Juneau Family

Deluxe Pest Control was established in 1962 in Metairie by Mark Juneau Sr., a retired Navy Chief, a veteran of WWII and the Korean wars. Mark was a leader of young men, and his philosophy was that “there are no problems or excuses, there are only solutions.” This philosophy has guided Deluxe since its inception. Since 1971, the second generation owner, Paul C. Juneau, has taken this commitment to new heights, with a service that is unparalleled in the industry.

The concept of problem solving in the pest control industry was to always “spray away a problem.” In 1973, in the early years of the formation of the EPA, Americans were made aware of the importance of the safe handling of chemicals. As a college student studying Entomology, Paul was concerned about the direction of the Pest Control industry, and began to rethink the “spray away the problem” concept, resolving instead to institute the Integrated Pest Management system, or IPM.

What is IPM? Why is it important?

IPM is an effective environmentally sensitive approach to pest control that limits pesticide use. Deluxe has been practicing this safer approach before the phrase was made a part of the language of the now modern day Pest Control Industry. Innovation has always been our goal in the pursuit of our mission to limit the use of pesticides in our lives, while still maintaining an environment free of disease carrying and nuisance pests.

Continued Training & Education

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Deluxe owner Paul Juneau decided to take his training to the next level, attending a 21-hour training program on mold remediation. This program was sponsored by the Indoor Air Quality Council. At the time of the storm there were very few Louisiana Mold Remediation Companies in business. Mr. Juneau also completed the State-Certified Microbial Remediation Supervisor program. This program is required by the state. As a result of training, Deluxe treated thousand of buildings with no re-treats for new mold growth and has a network of mold remediation specialists on hand for recommendation.
