Where to Look: Bed bugs harbor in crack and crevices during the day and are active mainly at night. They may also find harborage in closets near coat racks and other common areas outside of bedrooms.

Bed Bug Facts

After a 50 year hiatus, bedbugs are again invading our space. These pests are just as satisfied with attacking us in a flop house or a $500.00 a night hotel room; no place is immune to infestation, and they are not associated with filth or poor sanitation.

Hitchhiking: Bugs are brought into your environment on suitcases, purses, art work, clothing, or any item you may have had with you in the infested area. Infested areas include but are not limited to: Hotels, Cruise Ships, Planes, Trains, or any other area where people from other areas travel to. Bugs are also introduced into homes on used furniture or clothing. They can be active migrants walking from one room to another. Each female bug lays hundreds of eggs in their lifetime. Eggs will hatch in seven to ten days, available pesticides do not kill these eggs and the newly hatched bug may avoid the treated areas. The bugs can go months without a blood meal thus making control methods difficult.

Health Concerns

Research suggests that bedbugs have the “potential to carry diseases”, but no research has documented that the bed bug, Cimex lectularius transmits a single human disease. The reactions are different for each individual:

A) no reaction
B) an immediate reaction from one hour to one day later lasting 1-2 days
C) a delayed reaction from 1-14 days later and lasting 2-5 days.

Anaphylactic reactions to bed bug bites also have been reported. ** Some people may exhibit more than one type of reaction.

TREATMENT

Inspection/Treatment involves the use of a steamer and green products to treat the room. Inspection/Treatment includes, but is not limited to, the treatment of the entire bed, bed frame, headboard, dressers, night stands, pictures, curtains, and any other furniture in the room. The Inspection/Treatment takes approximately 1-1/2 hours, and is very thorough. If problems found, multiple treatments may be required depending on severity of infestation. If bedbugs present, we will advise you on the most efficient way to remedy the problem. This remedy may include treatment of additional rooms or the entire house, depending on severity. Standard treatment for bedbug infested houses would consist of 2 treatments at 3 to 9 day intervals. A follow-up inspection a week after service is standard, if entire house or apartment is treated. Prices will vary depending on scope of job.

Deluxe will use all tools including but not limited to:

  • FLASHLITE INSPECTION
  • STEAM HEAT TREATMENT
  • RESIDUAL LIQUID PESTICIDE TREATMENT, AND DUSTING IN WALL VOIDS

Preparation

1. All linen must be stripped from beds, placed in garbage bags, and immediately brought to laundry and washed and dried on hottest settings. All curtains must also be removed and either dried on high or laundered. All clothing in apartments must be treated in the same way. Throw away bags and replace with new bags!! If clothing is already clean, clothes may be placed in the dryer for at least 20 minutes on the highest setting. Check all labels to make sure clothes will not be damaged by washing or drying; if so bring to dry cleaners. Leave clothes in bags; do not put clothes back into closets or dresser drawers until instructed by Deluxe. Toys, stuffed animals, shoes, and any other items that can be placed in dryer for 20 minutes should be, to insure bugs are not in these items. Nothing should be left on floors except furniture and rugs.

2. Keep linen and clothing out of rooms until final treatment is performed. If this is not possible, wash and dry on the hottest settings and place in plastic containers with lids, or in sealed plastic garbage bags. Do not place clothing back into dressers or closets until Deluxe tells you it is OK to do so. For apartments or homes linens must be removed each week before the treatment is performed.

3. Special Bedbug bedding encasements are available from Deluxe, these encasements are recommended for all treated mattresses and box springs. This will eliminate the need to replace beds. Prices range from $80.00 - $120.00 for queens to $100.00 to $125.00 for kings. Prices may vary depending on distributor pricing at time of service.

4. Deluxe recommends that the entire house or office is treated to ensure that pests do not travel to adjacent areas to avoid treated surfaces. We also recommend treating all connecting rooms, apartments, or offices.

5. Caution!! Inadequate treatments can result in spreading bugs throughout your home or to adjacent apartments or condos. This will make bedbug elimination more difficult for the professional Pest Control Specialist.

ALL PETS AND PEOPLE MUST BE OUT OF HOUSE AT TIME OF TREATMENT!!!
IF PREPERATION IS NOT PERFORMED AS SPECIFIED THERE WILL BE NO GUARANTEE
